Baildon - Lounge Refurbishment

My clients in Baildon had been living with a dated and cluttered lounge, which was no longer functionally working for them after an accident resulted in one of them needing to be in a wheelchair full time. Having done some necessary adjustments to add a lift to one end of the room, they were ready to make the space feel more contemporary and work better for them.

The brief: to create a calm and relaxing room, that felt bright and contemporary whilst retaining a homely feel. The clients wanted to keep their oak furniture and include a reclining sofa.

The room felt unbalanced, with large amounts of furniture and the tv down one end, while the opposite end felt sparse. We decided to extend the chimney breast and integrate a media wall to move the focus of the room to a more central position. As my client is an avid music fan, the slat wall was incorporated for both its aesthetic and acoustic properties to ensure the sound from his speakers transmitted well.

Full project management on this job meant all electrics, joinery, plumbing a decorating were handled by me, meaning the clients could relax and wait for their new lounge to be created.
